Can you pick up the "cheap" of temporary food?
Whether it is an offline supermarket or an online shop, discounts and promotions of impending food have become a hot trend. Many supermarkets have set up special counters for temporary foods, and there have also been small supermarkets specializing in selling temporary foods. So many people have to ask: Is the food safe during the period? Can this "cheap" be picked up?
The critical period has 6 levels
Temporary food refers to food that is about to reach the shelf life of the food but is still within the shelf life. On January 27, 2012, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued a document clearly requiring that food operators should make eye-catching reminders to consumers about food that is about to expire. In other words, foods that have reached the critical expiration date need to be notified to customers and sold separately.
The Beijing Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce also announced to the outside world the 6-level standard for "critical food shelf life":
1. If the shelf life is 1 year or longer, the critical period is 45 days before the expiration date (such as cans, candies, biscuits, etc.).
2. If the shelf life is 6 months to less than 1 year, the critical period is 20 days before expiration (such as instant noodles, aseptic packaged milk juice, etc.).
3. If the shelf life is 90 days to less than half a year, the critical period is 15 days before expiration (for example, some vacuum-packaged and refrigerated cooked food, instant rice, etc.).
4. If the shelf life is 30 days to less than 90 days, the critical period is 10 days before expiration (such as some sterilized packaged meat products, fresh eggs, etc.).
5. If the shelf life is 16 days to less than 30 days, the critical period is 5 days before expiration (such as yogurt, some snacks, etc.).
6. If the shelf life is less than 15 days, the critical period is 1 to 4 days before the expiration (such as milk, live bacteria milk beverage, main food, unsterilized cooked food, unsterilized boxed soy products, etc.).
The price is discounted, safety cannot be discounted
Isn't the temporary food the food that is about to expire? When buying things, people are more accustomed to picking new dates, and some people will deliberately buy impending ones? Although the price advantage is very attractive, will it be a problem if you eat it? Many people are most worried about the safety of temporary food.
First of all, impending food is not expired food, it belongs to the scope of safe food. Temporary food is edible. It is just about to reach its expiry date, but it is still within its expiry date. As long as it is stored properly, the quality of the food is guaranteed. Moreover, many foods can still be eaten even after the expiry date.
Food can be roughly divided into two categories: long shelf life food and short shelf life food. Foods with long shelf life can generally be stored for several months to several years. Even after the expiration date, as long as the storage conditions meet the requirements and the package is not opened, and the appearance does not appear to change significantly, it can still be eaten safely. Especially those vacuum-packed grains, canned food, instant noodles, biscuits and the like with a long shelf life.
Fresh milk, fresh juice, freshly made cakes or bread, cold meat and other short-life foods usually need to be stored in refrigeration, and the shelf-life generally ranges from 3 to 30 days. The shelf life of this type of food is usually strict. As long as the shelf life is over, the risk of microbes exceeding the standard will increase, so don't eat it. Please also purchase this type of impending food with caution.
